The search for a missing boater in Manasquan Inlet is continuing Friday morning, hours after two others were rescued from a vessel that capsized, authorities said.

The boat capsized after being hit by a wave, the Coast Guard said.

“Our crews, as well as other outside agencies, are working hard to locate the remaining missing person and to collect debris from the accident,” the Coast Guard said in a brief statement before 7 a.m. Friday. “We kindly ask the boating public to please give the rescue crews the time and space we need to complete this mission.”

A helicopter and a 47-foot boat were searching for the boater Thursday night. Video from the scene showed a Coast Guard plane joining the search early Friday.

A high surf advisory is in effect for the Jersey Shore until 6 p.m. as Hurricane Lee moves north hundreds of miles off the coast of North Carolina. The Category 1 storm is packing maximum winds of 100 mph and is expected to make its closes pass to New Jersey later Friday and early Saturday still hundreds of miles off the coast.

The Coast Guard couldn’t immediately be reached for additional information Friday morning.
